For the 34th year, Gallery of Diamonds will award prizes to students who best express Why Mom Deserves a Diamond®.  The contest was established in 1993 by founder Diamond Mike Watson in honor of his adoptive mother and birthmother for students to creatively express their appreciation for their mothers.

Eligibilty:
Students grades 1-8.
Orange County, California: All school districts.
Los Angeles County, California: School districts of Long Beach Unified, Norwalk- La Mirada, Paramount USD, Bellflower ABC Unified, and Little Lake City Unified.

Rules:
We must receive more than (5) entries per class. Individual students cannot submit more than one entry. Entry will be evaluated on originality.

Prizes:
One Grand Prize Diamond Winner will receive a loose 1/4 carat Old European Cut diamond with a retail value of $600.  First-prize winners will receive a loose Brazilian amethyst.  Second-prize winners will receive a loose African garnet.  Winners will be notified to receive prizes at Gallery of Diamonds Jewelers. Prizes are genuine gemstones and do not include mountings.  No purchase is necessary.  Mountings will be offered to parents at discounted prices who wish to set their gemstones. Winners must be accompanied by their mother or the person who inspired the essay.
