Ms. Kensinger

"This is truly a heart-warming experience to be part of this celebration of Moms."

Diamond Mike Watson: What do you feel is the most important aspect of the Why Mom Deserves a Diamond contest?

Mary Wilson: I think it is so important for kids to let their mothers know how important they are in their life because moms typically give us themselves all the time and very few people tell them how important that is, and coming from their child it is extremely important.

Diamond Mike: How do you feel the Why Mom Deserves a Diamond contest contributes to the long-term self-esteem of students?

Mary Wilson: Well, I know my students were so excited when I told them about the contest, and every child loves to have competition, and they all think their mom is the best mom in the world and this gives them a public opportunity to display that.

Diamond Mike: What are the benefits of writing and reading words of appreciation to our mothers?

Mary Wilson:  When its written you have a log and you have proof of what you’ve said and what you did and writing is just another way to express yourself and sometimes its usually more thoughtful. You have to think about what you say before you do it, so I think its that important, and you have it forever, just like a diamond.

Diamond Mike: What is your favorite part of the contest?

Mary Wilson:  My favorite part is that not only does it give children a chance to tell how important their mom is, it also gives them a chance to be a winner and just the fact of writing the essay they were all winners because they were so proud of what they wrote.
